Mechanical cars, lush greenery and unreal views
When we went to the Faroe Islands, we only knew 3 things about them:
- It’s always rainy and cloudy there.
- There are more sheep than people there.
- The main attraction of the Faroe Islands is a “floating” lake
The first and third are not there at once, or we were just lucky with the weather and we saw the Faroe Islands in all their glory, but there are really a lot of sheep there. There are actually more of them than people, and they are not afraid of anyone. They are all clean, so fluffy, well-groomed. Sometimes they run out onto the roads, so you shouldn’t exceed the speed limit.
Vegans will be pleased to enjoy their appearance against the backdrop of sea and mountain landscapes, and meat eaters will probably drool now, because as they say, the meat in the Faroe Islands is very tasty.
Although we don’t understand how you can eat such cuteness..?

Our journey began with renting a KIA Picanto, which we were able to fit the three of us + bags and suitcases into.
So, we had a fun ride from the airport to our accommodation. The ability to play Tetris will come in handy here.
In three days we drove to all the possible islands where you can drive by road without ferry crossings. 6 islands in total.

Stunning greenery, fjords, frosty air and half-empty roads.
From one end to the other, there are approximately 120 km of the most beautiful roads along the ocean, through funny single-lane tunnels where cars drive around using a “pocket”.

There are few cars that are easy to drive. But for those who like to drive an “automatic”, it’s a bummer. All rental cars are only on mechanics.
Fortunately, you can “stomach” on the road, because you are alone on it.
The views are very cool, there are interesting places worth visiting, it’s easy to get there.
Have you heard anything about the beaches in the Faroe Islands?
And they are there!
The Faroe Islands have wonderful beaches.
Shall we take a walk on one of them?

The photo shows the beach near the village of Tjornuvik.
The sun is shining and the water is clear… It’s just cold to swim.
Even the Gulf Stream doesn’t make the ocean warm. But there’s a very magical atmosphere when you look at the blue cold water, which is surrounded on two sides by bright green rocks.
In the village itself there is a cool cafe where they make waffles and delicious coffee. Small, homemade. You can’t pass it by. There is a whole village of 20 houses there.
And there lives a cool dog who loves to play and run. If you are in those parts, be sure to run with him on the beach a second time)))) Don’t be afraid, he won’t bite your leg off!

The beach is really attractive, so it is one of the MUST SEE places

How to get to the Faroe Islands, prices
Since the Faroe Islands are a controlled Danish territory (here are the Danes, a small country, and there are imperial customs), it is more convenient to fly from Copenhagen, for example, with Iceland. Three countries in one vacation. The Faroe Islands are a separate country with its own flag, its own magnets and its own money (although Danish kroner is in use there).

By the way, spend your Faroese money there, they won’t accept it anywhere else.
FLIGHT
Copenhagen – Faroe Islands approximately 130 eur
Faroe Islands-Reykjavik 130 eur
ACCOMMODATION
Life in the Faroe Islands is not cheap. The four of us rented a three-room apartment. The price per day is 200 eur.
CAR RENTAL
The rental cost is the same as in Europe. Cars with automatic transmission – NO.
WHAT TO DO THERE
Like what? relax!
Watch nature, sheep, fjords, breathe fresh air, pedal on the “mechanics”, enjoy the calm rhythm of life.
Jeghv Village
Another unique place, and most importantly, the beautiful road to this place is the village of Gjogv. The second place is a MUST See.

And of course, the most famous place in the Faroe Islands is the floating lake. It takes about 30-40 minutes to walk from the parking lot (where you can leave your car). But it’s worth it. In addition to the lake, there are beautiful cliffs. Here’s what you’ll see if you get there.
Sorvagsvatn is a floating lake in the Faroe Islands.

The famous “floating” lake Sorvagsvatn looks like it’s floating from this angle, or so everyone thinks to attract tourists. In any case, it’s cool.

Instead of Epilogue
The Faroe Islands are very unusual. Unique nature and very fresh air. Despite the fact that it is cool, local children are not at all bothered by it and they run around in T-shirts.
The power of the ocean, greenery and sheep everywhere. an unusual, beautiful country that you definitely need to visit and experience.
