Eurovignette is a special system for paying road tolls. It is required for all drivers of trucks weighing 12 tons or more. It is valid in the Netherlands, Sweden and Luxembourg. The Eurovignette is the same for all three countries. Denmark has switched from the Eurovignette to a per-kilometer road tax for heavy goods vehicles from January 1, 2025, as a result of this change, Eurovignettes will no longer be valid in Denmark.

It is required by absolutely all truck drivers – it does not depend on citizenship or country of residence.

You can apply for a Eurovignette on the official website . To do this, you will need to enter data about the country of registration of the car, its license plate, number of axles (Axle class), emission class (Emission class) and the date of validity of the vignette you need.

In the next step, you will need to enter the details of the bank card from which you will pay for the vignette and – that’s it! Your Eurovignette is available in electronic form. You don’t need to download or print anything, just save the vignette number – the traffic police may ask for it.

The cost of the Eurovignette tariff depends on several factors, primarily the class of your car, namely the Axle class and Emission class. While everything should be clear to motorists with axles, as with technical specifications, the Emission class can cause difficulties.

Emission class, or European exhaust gas standards, is a characteristic that is given to all vehicles. The class of your car should be indicated in the documents for the car. If you do not have such information, you can use the following table:

EuronormDate of first car registration
Euro 0until 30.06.1992
Euro 101.07.1992 – 30.09.1995
Euro 201.10.1995 – 30.09.2000
Euro 301.10.2000 – 30.09.2005
Euro 401.10.2005 – 30.09.2008
Euro 501.10.2008 – 31.12.2012
Euro 6from 01.01.2013

You can choose the validity period of the Eurovignette yourself. You can issue it for one day, a week, a month or a year. The cost of the vignette depends on the validity period, as well as on the class of the car. But for a day – the price is fixed (12 euros) for cars of all classes.

A one-day vignette is valid for one calendar day, but not earlier than the date of booking. It must be booked before you set off.

For example, the Eurovignette for a Euro 6 car (the most environmentally friendly class) with two axles will cost 750 euros per year, 75 euros per month, and 20 euros per week. For heavy-duty Euro 0 vehicles with 2 axles, the cost is much higher: 1,407 euros per year, 140 euros per month, and 37 euros per week.
